Bernie Sanders, the Vermont senator who lost a bitter fight for the Democratic presidential nomination, urged his supporters on Monday night to ensure that Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump in November, saying the choice was “not even close”.
“We need leadership in this country which will improve the lives of working families, the children, the elderly, the sick and the poor. We need leadership which brings our people together and makes us stronger, not leadership which . . . divides us up,” said Mr Sanders.
