Controversial Isese practitioner, Abdulazeez Adegbola, popularly known as Tani Olorun, has received a gift of brand new Mercedes Benz SUV from Oba Ela Ifa Agbaye, Chief Faseyi Fasanmi Bankole.
In a video posted on social media, Tani Olorun, who was recently released after spending 75 days in police custody, was seen sobbing as he received the SUV.
While receiving the gift, the traditionalist, who spoke in Yoruba language, said: “Can’t we speak the truth again? That is my nature. I don’t wish to condemn one religion for another.”
In August, the traditionalist was remanded in prison for allegedly planning to start a war in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, by “inviting other traditional and idol worshippers to assemble in Ilorin on the 20th of August, 2023.”
Tani Olorun was also accused of burning the Quran and insulting some Islamic clerics.
He was later arrested and arraigned on five counts bordering on “criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, criminal defamation of character, and intentional insult.”
The offences, according to the prosecution, were contrary to sections 97, 210, 392, and 114 of the Penal Code of Nigeria.
Tani Olorun was granted bail by an Ilorin Magistrate Court on Monday, October 30, after spending 75 days in the custodial facility of the Nigeria Correctional Service.
Chief Magistrate Mohammed Ibrahim granted Tani Olorun bail in the sum of N2 million and two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate said one of the sureties must be a community leader while the second must own landed property within the jurisdiction of the court or in Oyo State where he (Tani Olorun) claimed to be a resident.
