Oyo State on Friday recorded the highest daily toll of coronavirus in Nigeria.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Oyo State recorded 191 new infections, overtaking Lagos State which has always been first and the epicenter of the virus in the country.
Data obtained from the NCDC website indicated that the state has 2497 confirmed coronavirus cases.
It also showed that Oyo State currently has 1325 active cases, 1148 discharged patients, and 24 associated fatalities.
Meanwhile, Nigeria has recorded 591 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 39,539.
NCDC said the country currently has 22,135 active COVID-19 cases, while 15, 559 patients have been discharged.
It also noted that 845 deaths have been recorded across the country.
