A 55- year-old woman, Florence Aladenoye, was bitten to death by a dog in Idanre, in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Reports said she died at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where she was rushed to immediately after the attack. It was however learnt that she was taken to five different hospitals before she died at the FMC.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident said the owner of the dog, Mr. Olofingbasote Afolabi, had been arrested and was being detained at the State Department of Criminal Investigation.
Afolabi reportedly did not take any action to treat the victim after learning about the attack.
Ogodo urged residents of the state who reared dogs and other domestic animals to ensure that their animals were properly kept and immunised.
