Former Secretary to Oyo State Government, Akogun Sharafadeen Alli, has described the late Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Abdul-Azeez Adeoye Adewuyi, Aribiyan, Gbadewolu 1, as a courageous man who was always ready to make sacrifices for his subjects.
Alli, who is the Ekefa Balogun Olubadan, in a condolence message sympathised with the family of the monarch, the Igangan community, Ibarapaland and the entire Oyo State for the loss of a great monarch.
The death of Oba Adewuyi came few days after the demise of prominent Yoruba traditional ruler, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi.
The former SSG, who decried the incident that led to setting the palace of the late monarch ablaze by some suspected hoodlums earlier in the year, said it is a slap on the face of the traditional institution for the government of the day not visit the town let alone reconstruct the burnt palace for the late monarch.
“I received the news of the demise of our father, the Asigangan of Igangan land with rude shock. He was a courageous man. He made impact in Igangan land during his reign despite the activities of the men of underworld. We will continue to miss his wisdom and words of encouragement.
“It is regrettable that, despite attack on the palace of the late monarch, the government of the day has not visited the town nor the palace to commiserate with the late monarch let alone rebuild his palace. This is the time the Ibarapa people need the presence of the state government.
“I sympathize with the family of Asigangan, the people of Igangan, the good people of Ibarapa land and the entire people of Oyo State on the recent happening in the state. I pray God in His infinite mercies continue to protect our royal families and the people of the state,” Alli said.
