Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has quit politics after he marked his 80th birthday on Tuesday.
Speaking at his Wuse 2 residence at an occasion to mark his birthday, organised by Bamanga Tukur African Institute for International Trade and Development, Tukur who stressed the need for all politicians to rededicate themselves to the service of the people, said that he was saying goodbye to formal politics for the younger generation.
The former PDP national chairman however cautioned Nigeria politicians against frequent defection from one political party to the other, just as he said that political parties remain stronger when members submit themselves to the rules and regulations of the parties as well as subscribe faithfully to the ideologies of the parties.
