Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, has finally spoken out against the Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who ordered the demolition of the Saraki ancestral home known as ‘Ile Arugbo’ in Government Reservation Area(G.R.A) Ilorin in the early hours of Thursday, January 2, 2019
The governor claims that the land on which the property which belonged to Gbemisola’s late father, Dr. Olusola Saraki, belonged to the state government was illegally acquired.
While her elder brother, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been speaking against the governor even before the demolition was eventually carried out, Gbemisola’s remained quiet in order not to be seen as going against her own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
But following the demolition and the outrage that greeted it, and hours after Bukola reacted again, vowing to ensure that “justice prevails”, Gbemisola issued personally signed statement, warning the governor not to misconstrue her silence for tacit approval.
