The home of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Benson Friday Konbowei in Korkosei, Southern Ijaw Local Government was bombed on Thursday, less than 48 hours to the supplementary governorship election in the area.
Also, Bayelsa Deputy Governor’s brother, Beinmopre Jonah, escaped death by the whiskers as thugs suspected to be working for the leading opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, (APC) invaded his residence in Ekeki, Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state, leaving him unconscious suffering severe machete cuts.
PM News quoted sources as saying that the suspected party thugs stormed the area, brandishing weapons such as machetes, cudgels and headed straight for his residence.
The entire area was thrown into panic, as the suspected thugs threatened to shoot, maim and kill anybody that may put up resistance or call security operatives.
Meanwhile, at least 8,000 security personnel comprising the Army,Navy, Police and Civil Defence have been deployed to Bayelsa State for the Southern Ijaw supplementary governorship election on Saturday.
