The bid of Seantor Rasheed Ladoja to return as Governor of Oyo State under the Accord Party, has been described as a desperate attempt to redress his failure as a past governor.
In the words of Wasiu Olatunbosun, the director, Contact and Mobilisation Committee of Ajimobi Campaign Organisation, who issued a statement in Ibadan over the weekend, Ladoja failed the people of Oyo State in every aspect of his administration.
He said the former governor failed in security; treated religious leaders with disdain; failed to pay for Secondary School Certificate Examination fees, failed to inaugurate Boards of Parastatal in the state; flagrantly refused to sponsor people for Holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Jerusalem and even sacked en mass, civil servants employed by his predecessor , Late Alhaji Lam Adesina.
According to Olatunbosun, the people the state deserve correct and factual explanation from Sen. Ladoja, who doubles as the Ashipa of Ibadanland, why his administration achieved nothing in spite of robust resources at his disposal.
“How best could one describe a vindictive leader who sacked thousands of graduates who were employed by his predecessor without providing alternative for them which made half of them to remain jobless while many committed suicide due to frustration” Olatubosun said, adding that Sen. Ladoja refused consistent calls, despite persistent persuasion from religious leaders to sponsor people for Holy Pilgrimage, claiming he could not waste state resources on frivolities only to divert the same state resources for personal use.
This clarification, Olatunbosun noted, was necessary in view of what he described as the campaign of calumny the Accord Party had launched against the current administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress.
He said that Ajimobi’s achievements in less than fours years surpassed what Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and the Accord party achieved in 8 years. He said Ajimobi had returned the state to its ‘Pacesetter’ status which it was known for during first and second republic.
Olatubosun then advised the people in the state to be wary of false messages designed to confuse and drag the state backwards. He implored the people to vote for all APC candidates in forthcoming elections.
