The Head of Public Relations unit at Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Obafemi Awolowo University, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Adeniyi Suraj Amusat has bagged a doctorate degree (PhD) from the University of Ibadan.
Amusat, a Research Fellow at IAR&T was among thousands of graduands who bagged various academic degrees at the recent convocation ceremonies held in the university last week.
The Ibadan-born researcher now holds a PhD in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
His research thesis, “Effectiveness of Research -Extension – Farmers -Input Linkage System on maize farmers in Nigeria, was supervised by Professor Oyinlola Oladeji of Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Ibadan.
He had earlier obtained his Masters of Science degree in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development from UI. He also holds a Master of Communication Arts; Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication & Media Technology; Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication and Higher National Diploma in General Agriculture, all obtained variouly at University of Ibadan, Lead City University, Ibadan, The Polytechnic, Ibadan and Obafemi Awolowo University, School of Agriculture.
Before joining IAR&T, Amusat had worked as Extension officer in Oyo North Agriculture Development Programme, Saki, 1985-1986, Farm Manager/Agric Science Teacher 1988-1989, Armoured Brigade Nigeria Army, Bauchi (NYSC) and Oyo State Agricultural Development Programme, Ibadan.
Amusat is a member of Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria (AESON), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and Rural Sociology Association of Nigeria (RUSAN).
Amusat who authored “Fundamentals of Public Relations Practice in National Agricultural Research Institutes” has contributed scholarly to many journals and has received several commendations.
He is married to Mrs. Latifat Titilola Amusat.
