The event is scheduled to hold at Sanusi’s Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort at 10am. Chief Imam of Ibadan land, Sheikh AbdulGaniyu Agbotomokekere and his council will lead other top Imams while the CAN chairman in the state will lead christian Leaders to the event. The leadership of traditional group in Ibadan and the entire state would also be in attendance.
Royal fathers expected at the event include Otun Balogun of Ibadan land, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Onpetu Ijeruland, Okere of Saki as well as Ibadan Mogajis led by their president, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori. Baales in Ibadan land (Part 1 and 2), as well as other traditional rulers and chiefs are also expected.
Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekinni Abass, and the Iyaloja will also grace the event.
Sanusi, it would be recalled, had delivered not only his polling unit but his local government of Ona Ara to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makinde’s last minute reconciliation with Sanusi was one of the things he needed to record a landslide across the state.
Ilaji, as Sanusi is popularly known, has become a force to be reckoned with as his philanthropic gesture within and outside Ibadan land has made him a go-to person for people, especially politicians.
Speaking on the rationale behind the victory party, Sanusi, who has been receiving visitors in his resort, said it was to thank everyone who, in one way or the other, contributed to the victory.
”These people just love it and I must not take it for granted. I called them just few hours after we decided and they answered. Remember this was how they did for us when we were mobilising for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. And I told them then that we were not doing it for money, they did it with their hearts. Again, for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, they didn’t question me when I told them. I am grateful for the kind of love they have shown me. I won’t take it for granted,” he said.
Recall that Makinde, few days to the election, held talks with Sanusi to mobilise support for him. PDP won with over 11,816 votes in Ona Ara where, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, hails from.
