The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed six national electoral commissioners to Imo State for Saturday’s supplementary governorship election.
Confirming this at a press briefing on Thursday, Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Dr. Gabriel Ada, said that the deployment of the national electoral commissioners from Abuja was to strengthen the existing staff of the commission in the state to ensure that the conduct of the supplementary governorship poll was hitch-free.
He also said ad-hoc staff would not be used in the re-run election.
The resident electoral commissioner, however, said a total of 113,808 voters had collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs) in areas where the supplementary governorship would be conducted as against about 148,000 registered voters.
Ada confirmed that only those with their PVCs would be accredited using the card readers, saying manual accreditation would not be allowed during the supplementary poll.
