The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Nojeem Yasin, has annonced the appointment of Vice Chairman of the union in Oyo state, Alhaji Abideen Olajide a.k.a Ejiogbe, as Acting Chairman.
This followed the demise of the state chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde a.k.a Fele.
Reports said Fele died on Tuesday.
Fele’s death and the anxiety generated amongst the NURTW family, many of whom are yet to get clear confirmation, has sent some panic waves across the city. Some residents are already discouraging family and friends from plying areas like Iwo Road, Bere, Born Foto and other places which used to be hotbeds of NURTW violence in the past.
The union, years ago, was always been involved in succession and leadership violence and breaking into factions in the past.
