Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has promised to name the 76.67km Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin road after the late former governor of the state, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Makinde disclosed this while flagging off the road project at Adeniran Memorial Grammar School, Ogbomoso, on Wednesday.
He said late Alao-Akala contributed immensely to the growth and development of the state.
“The Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin road will be named Adebayo Alao-Akala highway. I will put conspicuous signs along the road stating it is Adebayo Alao-Akala highway,” he said.
The governor, who was accompanied by Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said the logic behind the road construction is to link farm produce to cities within and outside the state, stressing that it will ensure bigger market outreach.
He reiterated his commitment towards enhancing the economy of the state through efficient road network.
