Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, on Wednesday, joined other youths in Ibadan to demand justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The youths, who put on black clothes, carried placards with various inscriptions such as #JusticeforMohbad and #WhoOffLight among others as they walked through major roads within the Ibadan metropolis. They passed through Mokola, Sango, Trans Amusement Park,Secretariat, Gate and others
Recall that Mohbad died last Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday in Ikorodu. His death has attracted concerns, as some accused singer Marlian Records owner, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, of complicity in his death.
Ogundoyin, who addressed the protesters at different points, commended the youths for standing up for justice, adding that all well meaning Nigerians must lend their voices to call for justice for Mohbad.
He described the artist’s death as painful and shocking, stressing that the deceased was a talented and highly inspired young musician whose songs are lyrical and melodious.
The Speaker said late Mohbad, who rose from grass to grace, exhibited a great passion for music.
“It is unfortunate that Ilerioluwa Imole died in a mysterious circumstances. The investigation team set up by the Nigeria Police Force must be thorough in their job. Everyone connected with the death of the young man must be questioned, investigated and the cause of his death must be unraveled. Why did the Police fail to investigate a petition he sent to them on constant threats to his life?
“There are video clips showing Mohbad being beaten and bullied yet no one was arrested at that time and no one was prosecuted. He also did some audio recordings of his depressing situation and condition but nothing was done by the security agencies to secure the life of the promising singer.
“This is rather pathetic, pitiful and condemnable,” Ogundoyin said.
