The Oyo State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Barr. Abdu-Raheem Rahman Abiodun has officially joined Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
The PDP spokesperson in Oyo State, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, confirmed Abiodun’s recent move into the ruling party on Friday in Ibadan.
Abiodun had announced his decision to join the PDP recently, having understudied the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja and the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
At a reception held in honour of Abiodun and party aspirants for the forthcoming local government election in Oluyole Local Government, the party expressed delight at the commissioner’s decision.
Abiodun, who was accompanied by a crowd of supporters to the secretariat of the party was received by Olatunji; Deputy Chief of Staff to Makinde, Hon. Abdumojeed Mogbonjubola; a former member of House of Representatives, Hon. Depo Oyedokun among other party members.
Receiving the party’s flag which was presented to him by the PDP chairman in Ward 1,Oluyole Local Government, Jimoh Abideen, Abiodun assured the party of his support at all times and promised to lead the party to victory in the local government election.
He said he is coming into the ruling party to contribute his quota to the “current strides and developmental politics the party is renowned for.”
“I believe in the party structure of the PDP from unit level to state level. I assure you as fellow party members, I will support the ruling party in Oyo State,”the commissioner said.
Welcoming the commissioner into PDP, a party leader in Oluyole Local Government Area, Prince Lasunkanmi Salami congratulated the new member.
He testified to Abiodun’s pedigree and prowess as a professional, expressing optimism that the commissioner will support the party and lead it to victory.
Speaking, Oyedokun said PDP being a truly democratic party believes in the new member and his leadership style.
