A full time commissioner of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission , Mr. Babatunde Ayankojo has charged principal officers in the administration of all the Local Government Areas in the State to ensure that the people are given adequate sensitization, education and enlightenment, on the imperative of voting for credible candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Mr Ayankojo gave rhe advice at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, recently while addressing the principal officers drawn from all the 33 LGs and 35 LCDAs.
He urged residents to go out and cast their votes in order to engender “continuity, consolidation and progress in governance”
Ayankojo lauded the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for the approval given to the Commission in respect of the promotion of eligible staff from 2012-2016.
According to him, “this without any gainsay, depicts the love and compassion of His Excellency for all the workers under him. Consequently, the Commission has released letters of promotion covering 2012 to 2015, to all eligible staff comprising all the cadres, while 2016 promotion letters are already being worked on and would soon be released to the field.”
He urged those yet to receive their letters to be patient, with the assurance that all eligible officers would receive their letters as and when due.
On staff transfers, the Commissioner stressed that any transfer carried out by the commission would always be done in good faith, and in the interest, betterment and progress of the service. He also harped on the issue of seniority list of all the cadres, conversion of officers from one cadre to the other, discipline among the staff – among other things.
Responding on behalf of the principal officers, Comrade Bayo Titilola- Sodo Oyo State NULGE president and acting head of local government administration, Ibadan West LCDA, Alh. HOD Oyewo HLGA Irepo local government, Deacon T. A. Adewale, HLGA Iwajowa local government and Comrade Bayo Raji HLGA Ibadan South West local government, all appreciated the Senator Ajimobi -led administration for raising the bar of governance at the grassroots level through the creation of LCDAs which had allowed the unified staff to rise in their career pursuit. They therefore pledged their support for the government of the day, with the promise to convince voters at the grassroots to vote for the ruling party.
Earlier in his welcome address of welcome, the acting head of local government administration and director of administration of the Commission, Mr. Akeem Olatunji, disclosed that the meeting was convened to intimate the principal officers with the day to day activities of the commission since the inception of the present Board.
The occasion was graced by the part time commissioners of the Commission, Dr. Abiodun Ayandele and Mrs. Moyosore Ajani, Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Board, Dr. (Mrs.) Dele Busari, Director of Budget of the Commission, Alh. Ganiyu Wasiu, among others.
