In a bid to bring succour to service providers and enrollees amid the biting economic situation of the country, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has scheduled a stakeholders’ meeting for Thursday, April 18, 2024.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Sola Akande, disclosed this while featuring on Fresh 105.9FM at the weekend.
“On Thursday, we want to have a stakeholders’ meeting where we will have providers with us. We will have some other interest groups and associations as well.
“We will sit together and be able to answer the question, ‘how can we improve on our tariffs without increasing the premium?’ We can’t increase the premium, because the purchasing power of the people is worse these days.
“We want to have conversations on how we can improve the tariffs – drug tariff, professional tariff – so that our providers can smile some more, because for them, it is a business angle.
“However, I want to appeal with them while we are having the conversation, to try to see what can be adjusted. We must, however, stay within our professional guidelines.
“We know the pain the providers are going through, but at the same time we must stay within the ambit of the operational guideline that we signed while we try to look for ways to improve on tariffs and make you smile some more,” he said.
