General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has stepped down as the leader of the church in Nigeria. Pastor Joseph O. Obayemi was appointed as his successor on Saturday during the ministers Thanksgiving service.
Adeboye had led the church since 1981 after he was ordained by the church founder, Late Reverend Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi.
Daddy G.O as he is fondly called, will continue to lead the global ministry in its bid to reach even more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Report had it earlier that Adeboye had retired. But a source within the church explained the change. He said Adeboye will still be in charge of the Holy Ghost service and some other programmes of the church, but Pastor Obayemi will lead the RCCG in Nigeria.
Obayemi was promoted alongside others last August to the position of Assistant General Overseer.
