Oyo State governor-elect, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Governor Abiola Ajimobi at the Government House.
On Makinde’s entourage were his deputy, Engr Raufu Olaniyan, Sen. Hosea Ayoola and host of others.
The visit s coming six days after Makinde became the man who would succeed Ajimobi on May 29, after winning the governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makinde defeated Adebayo Adelabu, the candidate of Ajimobi’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In 2007, Ajimobi and Makinde were in the same party, the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) where they both contested for governorship and Oyo South Senatorial district respectively. While Ajimobi lost to Adebayo Alao-Akala of the PDP, Makinde lost to Kamorudeen Adedibu, son of late Lamidi Adedibu, also of the PDP.
Incidentally, Ajimobi who contested for the same Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of APC in the February 23 election, lost to the candidate of the PDP, Dr. Kola Balogun.
The governor will however remain prominent in history as the first to secure a second term as governor in Oyo State. His predecessors – Lamidi Adesina, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and Alao-Akala – tried and failed.
