The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Lebanese over a hit and run incident in Victoria Island area of the state.

The Lebanese, identified as John Greg, was arrested on Wednesday, for driving against the traffic and hitting a lady, Omotomi Akinsanya.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Greg sped off after hitting Akinsanya, but was apprehended by passers-by.

The statement read: “On May 4, 2022 at about 0745hrs, a middle aged Lebanese by name John Greg ‘m’ drove a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road thereby hitting one Omotomi Akinsanya ‘f’ which resulted in serious injuries to her leg. 

“He sped off but was chased and arrested. Suspect in our custody. The vehicle  has been  impounded and  victim is undergoing treatment at LASUTH. Victim’s family  and Embassy of Lebanon have also been duly informed.”

Hundeyin added that investigation is ongoing on the incident.
