The immediate past governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested by the police after he led a team of his supporters to reopen the Royal Palm Estate hotel, sealed by the state government.
Okorocha, who was accompanied by his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, allegedly broke the keys used to seal the hotel which belongs to his wife, Nkechi.
The state government had last Friday, February 19, recovered the Royal Palm Estate hotel, along Akachi road, in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The seizure, according to the team led by Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, was in compliance with the directive of the gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on the recovery of Lands and other related matters.
Okorocha is currently being detained at the state police headquarters. Sources say he will be charged to court on Monday, February 22.
