Residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have taken to social media to express their displeasure following the clash between the Oyo State Government and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), which resulted in the city experiencing total darkness since Wednesday.
Residents have been lamenting why they have to be the ones that will bear the brunt of the ongoing show of power between both parties.
Recall that IBEDC had disconnected electricity at the state secretariat light over alleged N450 million debt.
The state government, through the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue, also went ahead to seal IBEDC’s offices within ibadan metropolis, in a move many believed was retaliatory.
Just like IBEDC laid claims to N450 million debt by the Oyo State Government, the Board of Internal Revenue also claimed the Electricity Distribution Company has defaulted in tax payment to the tune of N400 million.
With the development, Ibadan is experiencing what can be described as total darkness.
