Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, will declare open the 2021 annual week of the Oyo State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
A statement signed by the SWAN Chairman, Niyi Alebiosu, and Secretary, Adewale Tijani, said that the 2021 Oyo SWAN week would be declared open by Dare on Monday, December 13, at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
According to the statement, the minister would be conferred with an award of honour, in appreciation of his valuable contributions to the development of Sports in Nigeria.Dare is the first sports minister to receive such honour from Oyo SWAN.
The 2021 SWAN week will hold between December 13 and 19, and it will feature various activities including a lecture, titled, ‘Taking Nigeria Sports to the Next Level Through School Sports Reform.’
The lecture will be delivered by the President, School Sports Federation, Mrs Olabisi Joseph.
Aside the minister, other dignitaries to be honoured for their support to the society and SWAN include former Chief Press Secretary to Late Governor Lam Adesina, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan; Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA), Mogaji Akin Fagbemi; General Manager, Shooting Stars Sports Club, Alhaji Rasheed Balogun; Chairman, Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr Musa Oshodi; Chairman, Ibadan Football Association, Barrister Rotimi Alli; and Chairman, Oyo State Table Tennis Association, Mr Soji Tayo.
Others are Chairman, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde; Chairman Ogbomoso United FC, Mr Akinwole Akinwale; Founder, Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide and owner of Shafaudeen Patriots FC, Professor Sabitu Ariyo Olagoke, J.P; and Chief Executive Officer of Absolute Success Travels, Evangelist Ajibola Ogunkeyede.
The statement further noted that an Agropreneur, Chief Gbenga Olatunbosun Eyiolawi of Titan Farms, would be made the patron of the association.
