The Supreme Court has affirmed the nomination of the Speaker, Sherrif Oborevwori, Delta State House of Assembly, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Delivering judgment on Friday, a five-member panel of justices of the apex court, led by Amina Augie, upheld the judgement of the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
During the PDP primary in May, Oborevwori polled 590 votes to beat David Edevbie, the Commissioner for Finance during the administration of James Ibori, who polled 113 votes.
While Oborevwori is the preferred candidate of Delta State Govermor, Ifeanyi Okowa, James Ibori, a former governor of the state, is said to be backing Edevbie.
Justice Tijani Abubakar, who delivered the judgement dismissed the appeal of Edevbie for lacking in merit.
