The Grand Council of Yoruba Youths (Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba) will on Saturday, August 5, 2023 celebrate Mrs Kehinde Ola-Oni, the widow of the late activist, Comrade Ola Oni, and her twin sister, Mrs Taiwo Adesida, on the occasion of their 80th birthday anniversary.
This was contained in a statement signed by the President General of the group, Comrade Awa Bamiji, on Saturday.
According to Awa, the group, in collaboration with the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), is organising a lecture, titled, ’24 Years of Nigerian civil rule without Ola Oni’s inputs: How comfortable are the Ola Oni followers?’, to mark the event.
He said the lecture would be delivered by Ola Oni’s protege and former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and Barrister Femi Aborisade. The chairman of the occasion is Comrade Moshood Erubami, Converner, Voters’ Assembly.
“Father and Mother of the day are Mr Tokunbo Ajasin, son of late leader of Afenifere and former Governor of Ondo State, Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, and Princess Olabisi Sangodoyin, Ibadan-based gender activist and key leader in the Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF)
“The Special Guest of Honour is His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, while the Guests of Honour are past and present South West Governors and their Deputies.
“Royal fathers of the day are His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II,Olubadan of Ibadan land, and Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, Oore of Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State,” he said.
The event holds at House of Chiefs, beside House of Assembly, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, by 11am.
“Please, join us to celebrate these two prominent female activists, two heroines of Yoruba land and Nigeria at large. The first twin sisters to contest and win most beautiful ladies crowns in the whole of South West– Miss West in 1965, organised by the NTA, Daily Times and other corporate bodies,” Awa added.
