Arsenal have finally unveiled Petr Cech after Arsene Wenger completed his signing from Chelsea for £11million from Chelsea.
Cech moves to north London on a four-year contract, understood to be worth about £100,000 per week, and could make his debut against his former club on August 2 in the Community Shield.
Wenger told the club’s website that he was ‘very pleased’ to have signed ‘one of the outstanding keepers in the world.’
His words: “Petr Cech is a player that I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased that he has decided to join us.
“He has proven over many seasons that he is one of the outstanding keepers in the world and he will add great strength to our squad”.
Cech explained that it was Wenger’s ambition, and the promise of first-team football, that attracted him.
“When Arsene Wenger spoke to me about his ambitions for this club, and how he saw me as part of this team, the decision was clear” he said.
