Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmuminin Kabir Usman, has promised to look into the political aspiration of former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with a view of contributing, advising and correcting where necessary.
The Emir spoke at his palace in Katsina at the weekend while receiving members of the Arewa Organisations Movement for Asiwaju, led by Senator Abu Ibrahim.
According to the Emir, there is no way he could disown the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential hopeful when he needed his support, considering their long lasting relationship.
“We will look into whatever movement he is into, where we will support, where there is need to support and we will correct where necessary. I knew Tinubu when he was governor while I was district head and he has assisted me in many ways. Now that I am on the throne, he is contesting for president, tell me why I should disown him,” Usman said.
He maintained that with the security challenges plaguing the country, particularly the North, was man made, adding that it is imperative to elect somebody with the ability to return normalcy and it must be done with all sincerity.
“So, this man that you brought, Tinubu, is home here, he is son of the soil and he has done a lot for me. I was in Lagos some three weeks ago, the first time since 1967 and I have seen how Lagos is transformed and I concluded that all the country’s wealth is in Lagos,” he said.
The Emir noted Nigeria is the only country Nigerians have, urging the citizens to avoid myopic sentiments and work together for peace in order for socio-economic activities to thrive in the country.
While speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Ibrahim, told the Emir that if supported, Tinubu has the wherewithal to address the many challenges facing the country.
He said the delegation was at the Emir’s palace to solicit his blessings, support and advice on the actualisation of the dream of the Arewa Organisations Movement for Asiwaju 2023.
The delegation had earlier visited the Katsina Government House where they met with Governor Bello Masari.
Tinubu is our president — Olugbo
Olugbo of Ugbo Nla Kingdom, Ondo State, Oba Fredrick Akinruntan, has endorsed the presidential bid of former Lagoon State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The monarch spoke while hosting the APC chieftain in Ondo State, on Friday.
Akinruntan said regardless of other aspirants contesting for the presidency, “Tinubu is our president.”
“He’s been the governor in Lagos State. And he has been a sort of controller of this country.
“Without him, the country cannot move. A lot of people are saying they want to be president. Why can’t they come out? They should come out.
“For us, this is our president. Whether you like it or not, I’m going to start my campaign for him,” Olugbo said.
Speaking, Tinubu declared himself the “most qualified” for the presidency, saying he is ready to battle for the position.
“I don’t run away from battles. I am very particular and passionate about democracy. During MKO, we tried, but we could not get it. When they met us, we sought your support, and Buhari became the president.
“I have gone to inform Buhari that I want to contest, particularly that it is remaining few months for him. It is not a matter of fight. The constitution stipulated it. Buhari told me to go ahead and declare.
“I informed Buhari so that people will not be saying who did I inform before taking the decision. I am the most qualified to become the president. I will ensure that our children get employed, there will be industries and all-around development across the country,” Tinubu said.
