The annual Aleshinloye football competition has kicked off in Oluyole Local Government, with Wasiu Taiwo FC locking horns with Emmanuel FC in the opening encounter of the tournament.
With important dignitaries in Oluyole Federal Constituency all present, the opening game between Wasiu Taiwo FC and Emmanuel FC ended 3-3.
Declaring the annual competition, which involves teams from the 10 wards in Oluyole Local Government Area that made up the Oluyole Federal Constituency, the Accord House of Representatives candidate for the federal constituency, Prince Ayodeji Abass- Aleshinloye, said it was intended to keep the youths busy, boost peace and unity and eschew social vices among the youth in the Constituency.
“The annual event is meant to showcase young talents from the grassroots and mentor them through standard local and international exposures. This kind of competition has produced the likes of Mutiu Adepoju, Dimeji Lawal,Ike Shorunmu, Wasiu Taiwo among others,” he said.
He enjoined youths to remain focused and be determined in pursuing their dreams legitimately, promising to deliver on his electioneering promises if elected to represent the federal constituency.
Dignatories that graced the opening ceremony were Accord House of Assembly Oluyole candidate for Oluyole State Constituency,Hon Aina Oke Are, aka Jega; Accord candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Engr Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen; Representatives of Accord chairman in Oluyole Local Government, Alh Akeem Adeoye and Hon Okunade Adebiyi; Accord Ward Chairmen in Oluyole Local Government; party chieftains; coaches in Oluyole Local Government; former Nigerian international, Wasiu Taiwo, among others.
