Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers struck again on Monday, at Onipe Community, along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.
It was gathered that the gunmen emerged from the bush around 8:20am, shot sporadically and kidnapped three women. The gunmen took the victims away to an unknown destination.
The victims were identified as Mrs Temitope Okeowo, Mrs Abosede Adebayo and Mrs Bola Ogunrinde.
Ogunrinde, who is said to be a military personnel, was kidnapped in her Toyota RAV-4, with registration number AGL 66 FY.
Okeowo is said to be a teacher Itamarun Comprehensive High School, Oru-Ijebu, Ogun State, while Adebayo, a dental therapist, works at General Hospital, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun state.
It was learning that two unidentified men lodged a report on the incident at Idi Ayunre Police Division at about 10am on Monday.
According to sources, men of the Idi Ayunre Police Division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) swung into action and they were joined by the men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit as well as operatives of Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), local hunters and vigilante groups in combing the bush.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, said the combined team are on the trail of the gunmen.
He added that the security agents were making efforts to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.
“Yes, it is confirmed. As we speak, combined team of AKS, Idi Ayunre Division, other tactical teams, as well as local hunters and vigilante groups are actively on the trail of the gunmen, in a bid to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects,”Osifeso said.
