The Oyo Metropolitan Development Association in conjunction with the Royal Family will celebrate the one year remembrance of late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, with the commissioning of projects.
Recall that Oba Adeyemi III joined his ancestors on April 22, 2022, after reigning for 52 years.
A statement by the office of lawmaker representing Afijio/Atiba/Oyo East/ Oyo West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and one of the sons of the departed monarch, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, said ICT centres would be commissioned at the Federal College of Education (Special) Secondary School and School of Science, Oyo. Also, a borehole project would be commissioned at Orisunmbare Community, in Araromi area of the ancient town.
Speaking, Adeyemi, popularly known as Skimeh, said: “At the Ọba Adeyemi III mini stadium at Ode Aremo, on Saturday, there would be interdenominational prayers to be coordinated by Sheikh Authentic Solaty, Imam Daud Igiogun, Sheikh Mojeed Alawaye, Rev (Dr) Samson Ayokunle (immediate past CAN president), Bishop Taiwo Adelakun and Bishop Mike Adebomi Tella.”
“It’s another way to immortalise our late father. Though we have been doing things since he departed. We are just using this to mark the one year anniversary. It has not been easy since he left because he was an uncommon support base. There is nothing we can do than to accept the reality and move on.
“It won’t stop here. We will continue to bring the dividends to our people. Oyo people have, over the years, proved they are not ungrateful people. They appreciate those who have contributed to their development.
”So I will like everyone to join us on Thursday and Saturday this week as we commission these projects and pray for the repose of our late father,” he added.
