Special Counsel to Governor Seyi Makinde, and former Chairman, Board of Legal Aid Council of Nigeria (LACN), Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), has congratulated the Oyo State Governor on his victory in last Saturday’s election.
Makinde was declared the winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC), on Sunday. The governor polled 563,756 votes votes to defeat his closest challenger, Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 256,685 votes. Makinde won in 31 out of the 33 local government areas in the state while Folarin won in two local governments.
In a congratulatory message he personally signed on Tuesday, Ayorinde, who is a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, described Makinde’s re-election as well deserved, adding that the people of Oyo State will not regret their choice.
He noted that with the electoral victory, Makinde and his team would move Oyo State to greater heights, describing the election as a fair and honest exercise that permitted the full expression of the sovereign will of the people.
According to him, the people of Oyo State have spoken loud and clear by placing their confidence in Makinde to move the state to the next level.
He added that with Makinde at the helm of affairs for the next four years, the state would achieve more greatness.
While congratulating the governor, Ayorinde said the victory is a victory for the people, saying, “I’m very happy that the people have overwhelmingly elected a caring and loving leader like Makinde, I urge them to stand by him throughout.”
“I call on both Senator Folarin and Chief Bayo Adelabu to see the election as a contest where there must be a winner and rather than see themselves as losers, they should join hands with the governor to move the state forward.
“The voice of the people is the voice of God. Our people have resoundingly insisted that Makinde still remains their preferred driver for the journey ahead. His government has done a lot to bring developments to the state.
“More importantly, congratulations to the people of Oyo State for the wisdom and courage shown in deciding that the best of all the candidates was elected. Engineer Makinde is the best man to lead us into the future,” he added.
The senior advocate further said the outcome of the election shows that Makinde has done very well in the last four years as governor of Oyo State, adding that his victory gives hope for the country’s democracy.
Ayorinde explained that it is not only people of Oyo State that are celebrating Makinde’s remarkable achievements, but the entire country because citizens are speaking good of him and wishing that he was their governor.
“He is indeed transforming the social, political and economic fortune of Oyo State, and bringing abundant prosperity to the land,” Ayorinde added.
He also congratulated members-elect of the House of Assembly and urged them to enact laws for the good of the people.
