There is palpable apprehension among residents of Olofa way, in Ofatedo community, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State after suspected bandits threatened to invade the community and kill them all.
It was gathered that the bandits informed the residents in a handwritten note on three pieces of papers, dropped at strategic places within the community of their intention.
The three letters which were written in English and Yoruba languages read: “Kere, o eyi ni lati so fun yin wipe Awa ole bo wa si gbogbo adugbo yin, kosi ile ti ani wo. Tabi ki e da N20 million si owo Chairman yin. Ti a bati de ki egbe fun wa— meaning- we are informing you that, we are coming to invade your community and we are visiting every household or contribute N20 million to your community chairman, when we come, you will hand it over to us.”
The remaining pieces of the note read: “We will kill all the hunters that attempt to waylay us, we are coming fully armed and your security will be killed.”
Following the discovery of the letters, residents of the area have been living in fear. Some of them are also said to be relocating from the area.
The Field Commandant of Amotekun Corps in Osun State, Amitolu Shittu, who confirmed the incident, appealed for calm from residents of the area. He stressed that the Amotekun has beefed up security in the area.
