Up to 10 people, believed to be majorly students, have been killed in a school shooting in Texas this morning.
A gunman was said to have invaded an arts class at the Santa Fe High School with a shotgun and opened random fire.
Reports say the gunman, whom witnesses say he was a fellow student, has been taken into custody. A police officer is said to be injured.
This incident brings the total number of school shootings in the US to 22 this year alone.
US President Donald Trump has reacted to the incident. Addressing the press in White House, he described the shooting as regrettable and said it was a really sad day.
Bringing up the issue of gun control, the president assured Americans that his administration was doing everything to keep guns away from those who pose a threat to themselves and to others.
He prayed for the dead and injured and offered his condolences to the affected families.
Police say more information would be provided later, although pointing out that the death toll coud be between eight and 10.
Two other individuals are being detained whike the shooter is in custody.
