The Oyo State House of Assembly (OYHA) has approved the nomination of Chairman of the state’s housing corporation, Bayo Lawal, as the new deputy governor of the state
The approval followed the nomination of Lawal by Gov. Seyi Makinde as the replacement for the removed deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan.
The assembly went on a short recess after removing Olaniyan from office and reconvened around 12:15pm.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, said the action followed an earlier letter, dated July 18, and sent by the lawmakers to the governor informing him of the removal of Olaniyan from office.
Lawal was recently announced as the running mate to Makinde for the 2023 governorship election.

Ogundoyin put the confirmation to a voice vote, and the nomination of Lawal was ratified.
The assembly adjourned plenary till Thursday, July 21.
