Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, revealed on Saturday that the state’s debt profile is currently N150 billion.
He disclosed this on a radio interview organised to mark his first 30 days in office.
He said that the debt includes both foreign and domestic debts.
According to him, his adminsitration is still looking into the state’s accounts and has found out that some of the purposes for which the debts were incured are questionable. He said his government will look into those deals and ensure that those who have questions to answer do so.
Governor Makinde also revealed that the state’s federal allocation is currently N4.5bn while the wage profile of the state is N5.4bn. He said the state augments from the Internally Generated Revenue which he is working to improve.
He however promised that workers in the state will keep getting their salaries on the 25th of every month.
