The senate has asked Comptroller-General of Customs, Hameed Ali, to reappear before it on Wednesday March 22, 2017 in uniform.
Senators took the decision after a voice vote.
Ali, in defiance to the senators’ directive, appeared before them today in mufti.
He was allowed into the Red Chambers but was quizzed one after the other by senators who said it was disrespectful of him not to wear the uniform of the organisation he heads.
Answering their questions, Ali said the law does not mandate him to wear Customs uniform.
