The people of Ibadan land, on Thursday, commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin, for donating 500 executive chairs to the hall at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
The chairs, valued at N8 million was donated by Folarin towards the promotion of cultural value, heritage and activities of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) and Ibadan land.
Folarin, a three-term senator representing Oyo Central in the red chamber of the national assembly, is also the Asaju Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Before and after joining politics, Folarin has facilitated many projects and contributed immensely towards the progress and development of Ibadan land.
The CCII noted that no politician has ever donated such item to the Ibadan House hall in recent times.
“This is the first time a politician in Oyo State will be giving facelift of that magnitude to the hall in recent years; though politicians have been donating to us at Ibadan House, but not as much as this.
“In 2019, during electioneering campaign, Governor Makinde promised to complete the building project of Olubadan’s palace that is under construction within a year of assumption of office as the state governor, but nothing has been done till now,” a CCII member who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
The CCII said Folarin’s gesture is well appreciated because he cherished the heritage of Ibadan land.
