Confusion as Accord party’s lawyer slumps during tribunal sitting in Ibadan

There was confusion on Friday when Barr. Biodun AbdulRaheem, lead counsel to Accord Party’s candidate in March 28, 2015 House of Representatives election in Ibadan North East / Ibadan South East federal constituency, Mr. Olugbenga Adewusi,  slumped during a tribunal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He was revived with the help of a team of lawyers present in court led by Barr. A‎debayo Mutalubi, former Commissioner for Justice and counsel to the defendant, Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina. Mutalubi was said to have quickly rushed to his side after another lawyer, Barr. I.O Opeyemi had drawn the attention of the tribunal to Abdul-Raheem’s unconscious state.
He was led out of the court, assisted by other lawyers, while he asked his driver to take him to his doctor.
It was gathered that Barr. Abdul-Raheem, had sought the consent of the tribunal on Thursday to see his doctor for medical check up.
An eyewitness was quoted as saying:”The lawyer had been in court since morning following the adjournment of some cases to today. Barely had he finished a case which was adjourned around 4:30 pm that he put his head on the table.
“As the tribunal chairman beckoned on the registrar to call the next case around 6:50 pm, one of the lawyers who sat beside Abdul-Raheem called the attention of the court to the lawyer’s unconscious state and Barr. Ojo quickly rushed to his side to rescue him. After he was revived, he was taken outside, into his car.”
The court, it was learnt, later adjourned sitting till Saturday.
It was also later confirmed that the lawyer had been discharged from hospital.
