Al-Jazeera journalists Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed and 100 other prisoners have been granted pardons by President Abdel Fattah Al-sisi on Wednesday.
Fahmy was not on the initial list when it was released earlier in the day.
Australian Peter Greste, who was deported in February is however not one of those pardoned.
The Al Jazeera journalists had gone through a lengthy trial that brought the attention of the world on the Egyptian government when prosecutors accused them of collaborating with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood after the overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi.
The journalists denied the allegation and said they were simply reporting the news.
