Wife of the Minister of Power, Works and Housng, Dame Abimbola Fashola, has charged women to pay special attention to the upbringing of their female children.
According to her, if good values are not inculcated in girls for them to become women with good characters, the society will suffer for it.
Mrs Fashola gave the advice over the weekend in Ibadan while speaking at a seminar organised as part of the activities organised to mark the birthday of the Chief Executive Officer of Ankara la n ta, Ebunoluwa Asiwaju .
Speaking on the topic, “work, life balance”, the former governor’s wife advised women especially those going into politics to believe in themselves and not be discouraged by situations around them, adding “not everybody will like you, but be truthful, know your limitations and love God.”
She also stated that women should be able to manage their homes effectively irrespective of the nature of their job. “You must never be too tired. You must be very good as a wife, mother and business or career woman,” she said.
In her remarks, Asiwaju advised women to learn how to turn unpleasant situations to their advantage. She encouraged women to network and to never give up on God and themselves.
She explained that she decided to bring 50 women together on her birthday to share experiences, network and learn from each other.
“It had always been my dream to bring women together and share my dreams,” she said
She said she hoped to continue the project on a quarterly or annual basis.
