Former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, has said those protesting against the result of the presidential election held on February 25, are doing comedy.
Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, leaders and supporters of the opposition party had on Monday protested at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.
The protesters demanded for the cancellation of the result of the presidential election and also called for a fresh election.
But Fayose, who spoke on TVC programme, ‘Your View,‘ on Tuesday, said Atiku and his supporters are doing comedy, adding that it is better for the result not be announced than protesting after the announcement.
“Those protesting are only doing comedy. His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, only joined them so that they won’t say he didn’t try before goes back to Dubai. I know that is what he dis doing, he stays in Dubai and he will soon go back.
“It is better to make sure the result was not announced. Once they announced it, that is the end. I was part of them in 2019; I was on the truck at police headquarters when they teargassed us. My wife called me immediately to come back home that she is not ready to be a widow. I left for airport from there.
“They are in court and they are still protesting, isn’t that comedy?” he said.
Fayose, who also noted that he has never benefitted from the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu politically, said he has massive respect for the former Lagos State governor.
“When I joined hands with the ACN to dislodge the incumbent in 2011, I told them I wanted to go to the Senate and Asiwaju told them not to obtain form. But Ojudu later came back and said he was contesting. It is the same Ojudu now that is saying he will go on exile if Asiwaju emerges,” Fayose said.
He added that all the obstacles the president-elect surmounted on his way to victory should inspire him to do his best for Nigerians.
Fayose also urged Lagosians to vote Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office, saying “Lagos is not a toy anyone can play with.”
“Lagos is the economic base of Nigeria and we can’t let people experiment with it. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tried and nobody is perfect.
“PDP doesn’t have a candidate with capacity in Lagos. Jandor and my sister, Funke, are doing theater. Even if you see their posters, you will know they are just doing theater.
“#EndSARS should not be the only yardstick to judge Sanwo-Olu. So, if you are Ayo Fayose’s supporter or you like Ayo Fayose, you will vote Sanwo-Olu on Saturday,” he said.
