A 40 years old landlord identified as Sunday Ajomo who was relaxing in front of his house after dinner has been killed by a heavy duty truck loaded with yams which reportedly ran into his house at Iwaro Oka in Ondo state on Monday evening.
The development caused irate youths to take to the streets and barricaded the road for over 24 hours to protest the incessant accidents occurring and claiming lives daily.
Hon. Musa Olawole Gidado, the Special Assistant on Technical & Special duty to the Senator representing Ondo North senatorial District, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, told Newspeakonline that the body of the landlord was dismembered while his mini bus was damaged beyond repair.
It was also gathered that the Iwaro police station was partly damaged while some officers narrowly escaped death.
The senator’s aid said he was sent to visit the scene because of the senator’s tight schedule in Abuja over the on-going budget screening while he requested the state government to urgently carry out the repair of the Akungba – Osua road. He also urged the Federal government to complete the rehabilitation of the Ipele- Isua road which has remained the shortest route to the FCT.
Gidado added that Senator Boroffice who sent a delegation to visit the bereaved family has ordered the commencement of repairs of the damaged building.
