A Police Inspector, Bamidele Olorunsogo, attached to the Ode Omu Divisional Headquarters, in Osun State, has allegedly been assaulted by her Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), Matthew Ajayi.
A video showing a dehumanized and battered Olorunsogo went viral on social media on Wednesday.
In the video, Olorunsogo accused Ajayi, a senior colleague of hers, of assault and blackmail.
The policewoman alleged that Ajayi had asked her to be his girlfriend, a request which she turned down on the grounds that she was married, but the DCO continued to blackmail and ended up assaulting her.
She said: “What is my offence? He started beating me to the extent, he stripped me naked.Look at my chest, arms, everywhere, there are injuries. He’s Ajayi Matthew. He asked me out, that I should befriend him. I said no, that I’m a married woman.
“He started blackmailing me, claiming that he’s my lover, which is not true.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali, has directed the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Olaleye Faleye, to investigate the alleged assault on the woman.
Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the Force Headquarters will await a report of the investigation from the Osun State Command, and take necessary actions on the matter.
“We will await the report of the investigation from the Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken.
“We, however, assure the general public that justice will be done on this case, to protect the core values and ethics of the NPF,” Adejobi said
