Fifteen senators elected on the p,atform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dumped the party earlier today. Senate President Bukola Saraki made the announcement during plenary.
All the senators were reported to have decamped to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but one of them, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu has said she did not decamp to the PDP.
In a chat with NEWSPEAKONLINE after the announcement, Senator Sunmonu disclosed that she decamped to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
She explained in another a follow up text message that “my defection is as a result of issues within the APC Oyo stat chapter”
She added: “As we know, politics is local and despite the rhetoric, there has been little or no effort at the State level to reconcile differences by incorporating various stakeholders and interests.
“I hereby declare affiliation with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Arise and Shine!
“Ilosiwaju Oyo State”
It is however not clear the number of senators who also opted for the ADC but NEWSPEAKONLINE gathers that Senator Abdulazeez Nyako from Adamawa State also defected to the ADC.
