Ondo State has recorded its first coronavirus death.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, disclosed this to newsmen in Akure on Monday.

The commissioner said the deceased was already receiving treatment at the state’s Infectious Disease Hospital(IDH) before he died.

He added that the deceased had an underlying health challenge of renal failure, which worsened his case and eventually led to his death.

Adegbenro explained that the deceased, a man, was one of those that came into the state from Lagos State after testing positive for coronavirus.

The commissioner said the remains of the deceased would be buried in accordance with the laid down rules by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

He, however, noted that the other coronavirus patients in the state IDH were in stable condition.
