Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has established Kano Elders Council.
Yusuf announced the creation of the council during a press briefing at the weekend.
He said the council would serve as an advisory body to the state government, adding that the state is blessed with elders and leaders, who had achieved great successes in their careers.
According to Yusuf, membership of the council include former Governors, Deputy Governors, Senate Presidents, Speakers of the House of Representatives who are indigenes of the state, and former Speakers of the State Assemblies, .
Others are retired Supreme Court Justices, retired Appeal Court Justices, former Chief Judges of the state, former Secretaries to the State Government, and former Heads Civil Service in the state.
He added that traditional and religious leaders in the state are also members of the council.
The governor said the date for the inauguration of the council would be announced shortly.
The creation of the council comes hours after the Supreme Court affirmed Yusuf as the duly elected governor of Kano State
Recall that the apex court had on Friday set aside the judgement of the Appeal Court that sacked Yusuf as governor of Kano State.
