Ownership tussle over a land turned sour on Monday between two neighbours in Utonkon in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State as one of them whose identity is yet to be ascertained beheaded the other.
According to Police spokesman in the state, Austin Ezeani, the suspect who is a native of Igede is being held by the police in Otukpo area command.
He added that the suspect is from Oju Local Government Area while his victim hailed from Ado LGA, which shares boundary with the former.
It was gathered that the suspect and the deceased had a long standing quarrel over a piece of land and that fresh trouble started for the duo on Monday, when they met on the farm.
A witness was quoted as saying: “They started to fight and the suspect overpowered the deceased and cut off his head. He buried the other part of the body in a shallow grave on the farm and put the head inside a bag, but he was apprehended by some villagers”.
