Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved a salary increase for House of Assembly and House of Assembly Commission staff.
The announcement was made by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, during an annual interdenominational service for civil servants in the state.
The salary increment include a 35% raise in the basic salary for legislative duty allowance, 30% increase in other allowances under the Negotiated Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure, and reinstatement of 10% annual basic salary as leave bonus.
The implementation of these salary adjustments will take effect from January 1, 2024.
Ogundoyin urged Makinde to encourage other governors to prioritise the legislattive arm in their respective states, in order to strengthen and sustain the state legislative institutions across Nigeria.
He emphasised the commitment of the 10th assembly to maintain a harmonious relationship with the executive and judiciary.
The service was attended by the governor, members of the state executive council, government officials, civil servants, religious leaders, among others.
