The aides of Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose have engaged themselves in war of words, confirming reported feud between the two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts.
Reacting to Monday’s proceedings of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s case against Fayose, Makinde’s aide, Dare Adeleke said on social media that no matter what the former governor does on the case, he would be sent to jail.
Fayose was arraigned on an 11-count charge by the EFCC on October 22, 2018 alongside one of his company, Spotless Investment Ltd. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.
Fayose has been at loggerheads with Makinde over the latter’s role in Ekiti PDP crisis as well as the leadership of the party in South West. With Fayose are Hon. Ladi Adebutu; Sen. Ademola Adeleke and the PDP Chairman in Lagos State, Engr Deji Doherty, over the control of the party in South West.
Also allying with them are chairmen of the party in Ekiti, Osun, Ogun and Lagos states, leaving Makinde with Oyo and Ondo states.
Reacting to Fayose’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka’s comment on the proceeding, Adeleke wrote: “You and your paymaster are bound for jail. No matter how you twisted (sic) the proceedings, he shall be jailed.”
An online newspaper, pacesetternews.com quoted Olayinka as describing Adeleke as a sycophant who is seeking to desperately sustain the crumbs he is getting from Makinde.
According to the online medium, Olayinka said it was funny that Makinde too appeared to be in Adeleke’s support, saying: “If the governor is not the one who directed Dare Adeleke to be abusing Fayose, he would have called him to order.
“However, we won’t go gutter with them because we are not in the business of wrestling with pigs.”
